PHOTOAGING
Dermatologists agree that sunscreen is the no. 1 anti-aging cream you can use. And you should use it, every day. In fact it is so important that the only time you don’t have to wear it on is at night.
We believe that growing old is a privilege and as we age fine lines, pigmentation and wrinkles are inevitable. Premature skin aging however is not and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is significantly accelerated by photoaging ie damaging to the skin by exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet light. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation photoaging is responsible for 90% of early visible changes to the skin.
Wearing sunscreen should be part of your morning skincare routine, everyday.. and not just sunny days!. It not only helps prevent skin cancer (yes please!) is can also prevent photoaging and you are never too young or too old to start.
The best sunscreen to use is one that protects the skin using physical actives ie containing zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. These work by reflecting damaging rays away from the skin rather than absorb these rays as chemicals actives like Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate and Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol do.
“Who has time for a 3-step skincare routine every morning?” Very well said!
Our sunscreens have been co-created with you, which makes them pretty special. When we formulate new products, you image the most amazing things. That’s why our sunscreen also contains anti-oxidants that help stabilise the skin and plant collagen serum to give a youthful appearance. And if you like the idea of wearing a natural looking foundation, we also have the option of sunscreens with beautiful natural looking tints. Our job was to make, looking after your skin every morning easier, so these suncare, skincare and makeup hybrids have been created to work as hard as you do!

TOXIC LOAD
Future proofing the health of your skin also means reducing your toxic load. Toxic load refers to the accumulation of toxins and chemicals in the body, which are ingested from a variety of sources, including personal care products.
Formulating with us you have this covered too. The zinc oxide in our sunscreen is contained in a silky lotion made with the most natural ingredients. We list these ingredients clearly on our packaging. Most sunscreen brands do not list their ingredients (it is not a legal requirement)… so you really don’t know what you are putting on your skin.
Wotnot 3-in-1 sunscreen + skincare (+tints) not only makes morning easier, they also gives you peace of mind too.

Anti-ageing skincare routines often promise an eternal fountain of youth but what exactly can you do to slow down the ageing process naturally and hold onto that supple, dewy skin? Of course, ageing is a wonderful process, with it comes life experience, wisdom and a few crow’s feet to show a lifetime of happiness and laughter. But enjoying a sun-kissed life shouldn’t mean sacrificing well earned memories. Naturally protecting your skin against the ravages of the sun can be as easy as improving your skincare routine and reviewing the skincare products you use. And hey, if that also means enjoying refreshed, youthful and glowy skin, we are HERE. FOR. IT. Go ahead, read our top anti-ageing tips below, you can call us your skincare besties, later.
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Perhaps the most important step in your skincare routine is applying a mineral-based sunscreen every single day. Yes, we’ve heard it all a million times before, but there have been huge advancements in the mineral sunscreen industry over the years, you no longer have to worry about slapping on a thick white zinc mask before heading to the beach. There are natural and great skin safe, environmentally friendly and multi-purpose sunscreen products to choose from.
The sun’s harsh rays can irreversibly damage your skin if it’s not protected from daily exposure. Skin cancer, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles are all caused by the sun’s UV rays which damage skin cells so it’s important to wear sunscreen everyday, not just in the summer months. When picking your fave, go-to sunscreen, look for a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) that is over 30 and provides broad spectrum protection against UV-A and UV-B. Choosing natural and organic formulas that are toxin-free and reef-friendly are great for you and the environment too.
So what’s the difference between a mineral and chemical sunscreen? While we hope all sunscreens are created equal and provide superior protection, it’s not always the case. Chemical sunscreens have long been touted as easier to use while providing long lasting protection to the skin barrier but research has shown that chemical sunscreens can take up to 30 minutes to be absorbed into the skin and can often cause reactions in those with sensitive skin. The good news? Mineral sunscreens are considered much safer than chemical sunscreens and can be used on infants and people suffering from sensitive, oily or acne-prone skin because it works as a shield on the top layer of the skin, unlike chemical sunscreen that works by absorbing UV rays. The best part? You can apply mineral sunscreen on top of your skincare products and makeup.

Whoever came up with the saying “beauty comes from within” was clearly talking about collagen. This powerhouse protein is the most abundant protein in the body and is primarily found in your skin, tissues and bone but as we age, collagen production starts to deteriorate. Fine lines, wrinkles, dryness and sagging are characteristic signs of ageing and the loss of collagen in our skin. Youthful skin is strong, firm yet supple so adding natural collagen into your daily routine can help improve collagen production and promote the health and appearance of your skin.
The sun’s UV rays stimulate the enzymes that break down collagen in your skin and can result in uneven skin tone, dry and dull skin. Why not use a skin care product loaded with anti-ageing ingredients that ticks all the boxes? Wotnot’s range of natural face sunscreens are packed with COSMOS approved plant collagen that nourishes and protects your skin barrier and improves skin health while adding sun protection. There is nothing quite like waking up after a deeply restful night. You feel refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to take on your day. But what does a good night’s sleep do for your skin? All day our skin works as a protective barrier against harmful environmental factors such as the sun, harsh pollutants and germs so sleep is vital for the skin to regenerate and repair. Once asleep, our skin is able to produce new collagen which is the secret to youthful looking skin. At night, your body boosts blood flow to the skin to deliver nutrients that have been lost during the day and helps the skin retain moisture and improve cell turnover. The result? You can banish those bags, say goodbye to dull skin and say hello to a glowy, youthful complexion.
Did you know that having only 5 hours of sleep per night can lead to twice as many fine lines as sleeping the recommended 7 - 9 hours would? Read our blog on how you can literally sleep your way to better skin!
If you’ve ever suffered from dry, cracked or dehydrated skin, you’ll understand first hand why it’s important to lock in moisture and hydrate your skin from the outside in and the inside out! If your skin is dull or feeling tight, you may have dehydrated skin which over time can increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. So what can you do to improve your skin’s hydration levels and boost your anti-ageing skincare routine?
Plumping up your skin by improving hydration and moisture is key to reducing the visible signs of ageing . Exfoliating your skin is an important part of your skincare ritual and should be incorporated at least 1-2 times per week. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells from the outer surface of the skin and make way for new skin cells. Each time you exfoliate, you help unclog your pores which allows for deeper penetration of your skincare products plus it also helps to stimulate production of our new favourite friend: collagen! More often than not, exfoliating products are full of harsh chemicals and ingredients that strip our skin and buff away more than they need to. Using natural exfoliants such as oats or brown sugar are gentle enough to use on sensitive skin while leaving it feeling super soft and smooth. The best part is that you can make your own natural exfoliators with ingredients found in your kitchen cupboard! Check out our two homemade exfoliant recipes below:
Our skin barrier shields us everyday from the harsh rays of the sun, so protecting our skin with a natural, mineral-based sunscreen is the most effective and important step in any anti-ageing skincare routine. Whether you suffer from sensitive, dry, oily skin or acne-prone skin, our range of SPF Mineral Makeup is the perfect addition to your anti-ageing regime.

Two simple exfoliant recipes to brighten your day!
Oat & Yogurt Scrub
Oats have natural nourishing, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties that are ideal for sensitive skin. This scrub not only gently removes dead skin cells, dirt and oil, it also leaves skin feeling smooth and super soft.
Using a blender, small food processor or coffee grinder, finely grind oats. Mix oat powder with enough yogurt to create a paste. On clean damp skin gently massage, in a circular motion, into face and neck. Leave for 5 mins. Rince with warm water, gently pat excess
water dry (do not over dry!) and moisturise.
Yogurt contains lactic acid with works as a natural chemical exfoliant but if you have a lactose intolerance you can replace yogurt with water.

Honey & Brown Sugar Scrub
Honey has long been considered one of naturals superfoods with many skin benefits. It is a natural humectant, meaning it reduces moisture loss from the skin. It also has antibacterial properties making it particularly beneficial for combination or acne-prone skin. Sugar is a natural exfoliant that gently scrub away dead skin cells and clear out pores.
Raw sugar has the largest granules making it great for body scrubs. If using this recipe on the face, use a more gentle, fine brown sugar instead.
On clean damp skin gently massage, in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water, gently pat excess water dry (do not over dry!) and moisturise.
