Make your own natural exfoliants - 2 quick & easy recipes

Two simple exfoliant recipes to brighten your day!

Oat & Yogurt Scrub

Oats have natural nourishing, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties that are ideal for sensitive skin. This scrub not only gently removes dead skin cells, dirt and oil, it also leaves skin feeling smooth and super soft.

  • 1/4 cup raw oats
  • Plain yogurt

Using a blender, small food processor or coffee grinder, finely grind oats. Mix oat powder with enough yogurt to create a paste. On clean damp skin gently massage, in a circular motion, into face and neck. Leave for 5 mins. Rince with warm water, gently pat excess

water dry (do not over dry!) and moisturise.

Yogurt contains lactic acid with works as a natural chemical exfoliant but if you have a lactose intolerance you can replace yogurt with water.

Homemade exfoliants

 Honey & Brown Sugar Scrub

Honey has long been considered one of naturals superfoods with many skin benefits. It is a natural humectant, meaning it reduces moisture loss from the skin. It also has antibacterial properties making it particularly beneficial for combination or acne-prone skin. Sugar is a natural exfoliant that gently scrub away dead skin cells and clear out pores.

  • Sugar (raw or brown depending on use)
  • Honey

Raw sugar has the largest granules making it great for body scrubs. If using this recipe on the face, use a more gentle, fine brown sugar instead.

On clean damp skin gently massage, in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water, gently pat excess water dry (do not over dry!) and moisturise.
